Lara is still on her quest to retrieve the Dream Spear from the underworld. She has met up with the spirit of her mentor and together with him and her Maori guide, Akio she is hot on the trail. But Kagan is treacherous and at least one of them will not survive this journey.

Lara Croft, archaeologist and adventurer, is searching for a spear stolen from a British museum. This search, that has taken her across the globe, now takes her somewhere few have ever been. After going through initiation into the Maori tribe, and enduring the painful, but temporary, Moko tattooing, Lara is led by the warrior Akio and enters the Maori underworld. Now immersed in the Maori dreaming, Lara is having flashed of prescience, disorienting senses of the future, while continuing the search for Kagan and the Dream Spear. During a fierce battle Lara and Akio are confronted by someone from Lara's past thought to be long dead.
