Smith Letters: Dennis Heisler Pages: 32 Price: $2.95 Intro from the Comic: I'm a cop, a homicide detective in the NYPD. Catching murderers can be fairly grim work. Take a recent stabbing as an example. The corpse was practically floating in it's own blood. I lodged every detail in my mind: the coagulation of the blood, the placement and depth of the stab wound, the contortions of the body, the bits of skin and hair under his fingernails... I tracked down the knife-wielding psycho who did it, and I caught him. Then I took all those details I stored away and made them come to life in front of a jury. As usual , the DA wanted me to be graphic, because a sickened jury is more likely to convict. I was and they did. Ten people a day are murdered in New York. That's 3,650 every year. We I came back to the precinct afterwards, I had some e-mail from Lara Croft: "Sara - Close your office door and listen up. I need your help with something that tastes of the supernatural. In fact, there's a connection with your Macy's Christmas special (ha!) that I'm sure you'll find interesting. I'll explain when I see you. Meet me at the British Museum in London tomorrow night at seven. Wear your pretties. Lara." Lara Croft... The first time we got together was when Old Man Moralto went on his killing spree. We met up again when Moralto's gem resurfaced, but that's a story for another time. I've got to admit, Lara's James Bond routine has grown on me. Lara Croft and London, or New York and 3,650? There's a tough choice, I told my lieutenant I was taking a vacation and called the airlines. I'd have accepted Lara's invite even without the cryptic reference to the Witchblade. Sara Pezzini. Short Description: Sara and Lara are chasing a women called LeCavalier who has stolen an artifact called Idol of Bastet. It is somehow connected with the witchblade. Full Story [Spoiler]: Sara got an email from Lara. "Sara - Close your office door and listen up. I need your help with something that tastes of the supernatural. In fact, there's a connection with your Macy's Christmas special (ha!) that I'm sure you'll find interesting. I'll explain when I see you. Meet me at the British Museum in London tomorrow night at seven. Wear your pretties. Lara" So Sara decides to go to London. When she arrives at the museum, she witnesses a women fleeing with an artifact in her hands. She is accompanied by two bodyguards. She tells them to keep an eye on Lara. Lara appears and after a quick "hello" she tells Sara to drive her car and follow the car of the thieves. On the way she tells Sara that the women they are chasing is Genvieve LeCavalier and that the artifact she has stolen is the Idol of Bastet. The artifact was making it's public debut. Lara had found it in Giza, Egypt. She tells Sara that LeCavalier is obsessed with cats and had offered her money for the statue a week ago. Lara also tells her that while looking for the artifact she found an inscription which told her that there was a connection between Bastet and the witchblade. Then they are attacked by LeCavalier's bodyguards. The car drives of the edge of the bridge but Sara can catch Lara before they both go down as well. Now they follow LeCavalier to an old castle. LeCavalier calls Bastet, but everything goes wrong, she wanted Bastet to empower her but instead she appears herself. She sends her "pet" Manares after LeCavalier. Her bodyguards flee. Sara and Lara attack Bastet. Lara gets the Idol while Sara is fighting of Manares and Bastet. Bastet seems to fear the witchblade, it has taken everything away from her, as she claims and it has filled her with hatred. With the help of the witchblade and the Idol Lara and Sara trap Bastet again. Lara says the Idol isn't safe in a museum so Sara takes it with her. Lara keeps Manares who has become a baby lion. Critics: This is my favourite Witchblade/Tomb Raider Crossover. Its nice to see Lara and Sara really work together from the start. They make a perfect team. More Covers ![]() | ||||||||
