Game Informer Covers Underworld2008-01-26 (13:54) by Catracoth |
|
In the January issue of Game Informer, or issue 178, there's a two page article covering the basic features and news of the upcoming game, Tomb Raider Underworld.
From the article, this can be clarified:
Tomb Raider Underworld is a completely new adventure that is still connected to the ending of Legend (thank God). In this, the whole Maya calendar scenario is still based on the adventure, but it's something new that they added that still relates. Some new features and abilities also take place such as: Lara's grapple can now connect to anything, and with sufficient force is applied, she can pull or move anything in the environment. Now, Lara can pick up any item in the environment and run around with it with her other hand free to pull out a pistol and shoot any enemy she encounters! She can also shoot whilst hanging from ledges or ropes. On top of that, a new combat system includes expanded melee attacks to fend off the many predators she encounters.
Lara's moves and abilities are being modelled after real-life Olympic gymnast, Heidi Moneymaker! Lara's moveset had been expanded to reflect what the team at Eidos and Crystal Dynamics thinks would be her real work capabilities!
Tomb Raider Underworld seems to be the best Tomb Raider game to date, and it's factorial that it will explore never before seen territories in the Lara Croft universe!
At the moment, it is unclear if Amanda Evert will make a return, or if anything in Legend was related to Jacqueline Natla like the crates in the final level suggest.

Title for Tomb Raider 8 revealed?2007-11-30 (18:44) by Croft88 |
|
On November 21, 2007, video game developer Eidos Interactive filed to protect the trademark Tomb Raider Underworld in relation to, what else…a video game. Mork suspects that this might be the name of Tomb Raider 8, which is currently in development at Crystal Dynamics.
The storyline is rumored to be based around the Mayan Calendar. During five nameless and dangerous days at the end of the calendar called Wayeb’, portals between the mortal realm and the Underworld dissolve, allowing ill-intending deities to causing disaster and mayhem. Sounds like an exciting premise and setup for the next Tomb Raider installment.
