3(r)d Movie Rumours

07.06.2010 by tombraidergirl in Movies
One might think that there is nothing to report from the Tomb Raider universe, which is unlikely with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light on our doorstep. Once again the topic of a third movie has been brought up with a new name for a possible Lara Croft actress, this time the 29 year old Kimberly Kardashian. If you are not fed up with "reboots" and "movies being in 3D now", you may still hope for a third movie in the near future.

Possible Retail Price Revealed

17.05.2010 by tombraidergirl in The Guardian of Light
In an interview with Eurogamer Karl Stewart of Crystal Dynamics revealed further details. The most important one being the retail price of around 10 Pounds/1200 MS Points they are aiming for with The Guardian of Light. He further revealed that the game will be ready for a release in July/August and that the exact date will depend on Microsoft and Sony. A simultaneous release for all three platforms (PS3, Xbox 360 and PC) is planned. Once again it was stressed, that the development of The Guardian of Light is independent from Tomb Raider 9. Depending on how the new game does, a sequel may follow or elements may be incorporated in future developments.

In a further news article on IGN it is stated that you collect points during the level by defeating enemies and collecting treasures. If the health bar runs out, you can respawn next to your partner, but it will cost quite a few points. These points will be posted to the leader board at the end of the level.

The first trailer for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light has been released. It shows a large temple complex just waiting to be explored. We see Lara using the grapple, jumping, fighting, running, evading traps and working with her partner to solve riddles. The trailer again confirms everything we knew: that the game can be played in single or co-op mode, and that it will be available for PC (via Steam), PS3 (via the PlayStation Network store) and Xbox 360 (via Xbox Live marketplace).

The first Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light trailer will debut on gametrailers TV (short GTTV) this Friday. The trailer will also be available on the gametrailers website on the weekend and on Monday on Tomb Raider community websites.

The Fifth Village of Tokakeriby Tomb Raider Story Competition

23.12.2009 by tombraidergirl in Community
The fifth writing competition by the Village of Tokakeriby is on. Entries to the story competition should be between 1,000 to 10,000 words and inspired by Tomb Raider. The deadline for entries is June 22nd 2010.

Rules:

It's best that writers stick to the official canon regarding Lara, which, for example, can be found at Wikipedia or Wiki Raider. There is no particular competition theme so you can write about whatever you like, and you can include any character from the Tomb Raider games, books, films or comics - you don't even have to include Lara in your story if you don't want to! However entries may lose marks if they stray too far from the Tomb Raider universe, whilst sex and swear words of a sexual nature are probably best avoided. We welcome stories not only from the more established TR writers but also from newbies. There is no age limit, but no allowance will be made for age when stories are being judged. The story can either be an original piece of work or a story published elsewhere, but please enter only one story per author. Easy peasy.
