 | Tomb Raider LegendIn an interview on the E3, Riley Cooper tells a lot about the new game:Controls:The controls have been updated. A jump doesn't have to be lined up any more. As Cooper said, they tried "getting of the grid based system", no taking two steps back to line up a jump. Making all the moves has gotten easier.Lara can run, jump, grab ledges, walk slowly. She can use almost any imaginable surface (slopes, ropes, ledges, ladders, poles). She can do strings of four to five moves in a row. She can jump, or swing the rope against an object to kick it over, like a drawbridge or a statue. She can use a rope; throw it towards a raft or floating platform to pull it closer. Lara can dive underneath traps and doors. She can jump from one ledge to another one on her side. She can leap upwards from a ledge, instead of pulling up in a slow motion. Lara is able to make backflips or slide over the ground during fights. Story:We will find out what happened to Lara in Himalayas. About the events, that made her who she is. It is a more personal story line. Even the legend, a myth, the main story is about, has something to do with her personal life.Locations:She will be going back to the tombs. A confirmed location is West Africa, Ghana, where she explores a previously undiscovered temple.Enemies:Lara will always run into other characters when exploring a new area. In the game, she meets a new powerful nemesis with similar goals, who is also rich. There is also a new female competitor. Furthermore there are some old enemies that are back.Weapons and Inventory:Lara has her twin pistols, and she will always have them with her. Hopefully with unlimited ammo. She also has grenades at her disposal. Further weapons can be picked up from a beaten enemy. However all picked up weapons will be carried instead of placed into the backpack. She can only carry one at a time, except for grenades and twin-pistols. Lara has a lot of equipment. She has a headset, which she can use to contact her friends at home. She has binoculars. She also carries flares. (In the demo we see her throwing them into a dark pit.) Lara also has a rope she can use to solve different tasks.The topic of vehicles was avoided... Riddles:There will be three difficulty levels and there will be checkpoints where you can save the game.The gaming time will take around 10-12 hours, if going straight through. There are many different possibilities on how to solve a riddle. Lara can for example kick over an object, or she can use certain weapons to do so. Other Stuff:It was mentioned that we have to expect more of Lara's cheeky comments, especially when she's using the headset.Lara has some animations she will do, when left alone, like rearranging her gun-rig and stretching. Platforms & Technical:The game will come out for PC, PS2 and X-Box, where the X-Box and PC Version will have advanced graphics. (So sad that the game isn't coming out for PS3 instead!!!)They are using a steaming engine. In other words, all information that isn't needed is dumped out of the memory and replaced by new information. That means less or no loading times.
